The Issue
When a fuel pump fails, it can result in noise and vibration coming from the engine, and some warning lights may appear on the dashboard. In some cases, the engine may not be able to restart if it stalls, increasing the chances of the vehicle getting into an accident.
How Toyota Is Responding
Toyota dealerships are replacing the faulty fuel pumps free of charge, but the automaker wants to “refrain from commenting” on whether or not there have been fatalities, crashes, fires, or injuries as the result of the recall.
