BMW Recalling Over 250,000 Vehicles Due to Rear Camera Concerns

Published on December 2nd, 2019

BMW drivers should be aware of the recent recall of over 250,000 vehicles because the display settings can be changed, switching the rear-view camera off when the car is in reverse. On top of this, the car’s system will retain the same settings the next time the vehicle is turned on. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notes that this issue increases the risk of an accident and doesn’t meet federal safety standards.

What Cars are Impacted?

Many 2018-2020 BMW vehicles are impacted. The list of vehicles is lengthy, so you’ll want to enter your VIN number on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website to see if your particular vehicle has been impacted. If your vehicle doesn’t appear after typing in the VIN number, your car has not been affected by this recall. The NHTSA campaign number for this recall is 19V684000.
